The eve of Eid ul-Fitr is a special one. The excitement in the air is palpable. A month of fasting and solemn introspection is coming to an end, and a day of feasting and festivities lies ahead. Nowhere is the air more electric with anticipation than the alleyways of Old Delhi.
As the sound of the azan echoes through the streets, signalling the end of the fast for both the day and the rest of the year, charcoal grills are fired up, giant vats of oil heated, and skewers upon skewers of kebabs are lined up to feed the hungry crowds.
Azra Sadr walks through the walled city, camera in hand, to capture the buzz on the streets.
